Professors, parents, and elected officials are called to protest in front of the Ardennes DSDEN, in Charleville-Mézières.

Last week, Ardennes unions learned about the elimination of several teaching positions and the closure of classes for the upcoming school year in the department.

The CFDT, CGT, FSU, UNSA, and SUD Education are urging mobilization to denounce the numerous job cuts “in our schools, colleges, and high schools proposed for the next school year,” indicated the joint union in a statement.

“Because such measures are truly incomprehensible and totally unacceptable, given the numerous, complex, and all kinds of difficulties we face, because they organize the breakdown of the public school system, and they signify the renunciation of the state to its republican promise of fighting against inequalities, of school for all, of academic and social success…”

The unions demand sufficient resources and other choices – budgetary, political, and ideological – for the public school system.
