Local council elections: In Haute

It’s time to get down to business for the newly elected mayors who were inaugurated after the municipal elections in March 2026. To help them in Haute-Vienne, the Association of Mayors is organizing the first part of the “Mayors and Elected Officials University” this Monday.

Most Limousin mayors, including those elected in the second round of municipal elections on Sunday, March 22, held their installation town council meetings this past weekend. Now it’s time to dive into the thick of things: dealing with issues, projects, works, troubles… it all starts now. And to support them in Haute-Vienne, the Association of Mayors (ADM) is organizing the first part of the “Mayors and Elected Officials University” this Monday. This is the first in a series of events to help all municipal officials enter the 2026-2032 term in the best conditions. Philippe Barry, president of the ADM in Haute-Vienne, intends to pass on to them “some useful information that I would have liked to have when I started,” he said, “such as the budget approach.”

“We’re asking ourselves: how should we approach things?” – This will be the theme of the day this Monday and there will also be a session in April on the status of the elected official, a day on “how to succeed in your first year of office,” and later on a day on “the mayor as employer.” “I can still vividly remember the first morning I found myself at the mayor’s office at the town hall. We’re asking ourselves: how should we approach things?” recalls Philippe Barry. It is to avoid this feeling, or at least to minimize it, that this “Mayors and Elected Officials University” in Haute-Vienne is being organized.
