The Asian Student Association hosted a viewing of Studio Ghibli’s classic film “Spirited Away” on Monday night as part of their Asian Film Festival. The organization will continue showing different films every Monday night until April 27 at the Scott Borchetta College of Media and Entertainment room 103 at 7 p.m.

Selecting the films was an easy process for ASA members Sam Glasel and Vince Koch as they already knew what they wanted to show. The lineup includes “Parasite,” “Oldboy,” “Spirited Away,” and “Chungking Express.” They also added “House” to showcase an older film from a different region in Asia. The goal is to highlight the diversity in filmmaking across Asia.

The initiative to showcase these films was born out of a desire to educate more people about Asian culture and Asian cinema. The ASA aims to promote learning and appreciation of Asian culture through events like the film festival.

Koch and Glasel encourage everyone to come see “House” on April 27, describing it as a unique Japanese Horror classic that is sure to captivate viewers. Looking ahead, the organization hopes to organize more film festivals like this one in the future.
