Cameroon falls to Australia (0-1) in FIFA Series debut
On March 27 during the FIFA Series 2026 International March Window, Cameroon fell to Australia (0-1). A defensive error by the Indomitable Lions at the end of the match concluded a fiercely contested encounter.
This tournament comes at the right time. After the Africa Cup of Nations, the next official matches that count for the upcoming CAN are practically in September. So, it will be a long time without playing. Fortunately, there are FIFA windows and this tournament comes at the right time because there are players we wanted to integrate into the group.
David Pagou, National Selector – Cameroon
Cameroon had shown good defensive qualities against Australia, especially with the 70th-minute penalty stop by Devis Epassy, the Cameroonian goalkeeper. Unfortunately, a defensive lapse in the 85th minute was enough for the Australians to claim victory at home.
This FIFA window, for us, is beneficial. It will allow us to assess all these guys under pressure.
David Pagou, National Selector – Cameroon
While many observers criticize the rejuvenation of the national team with a lack of creativity in midfield and debatable tactical choices, for national selector David Pagou, Cameroon’s performance against Australia hints at a team with great potential that just needs support.
