This Saturday, April 11 was the scene of a highly anticipated clash between Team Vitality and G2 Esports. At the end of a particularly competitive Bo3 full of strategic twists and turns, the Abeilles finally took the upper hand with a score of 2 to 1 to consolidate their place at the top of the regular season rankings.
A contrasting dynamic before the meeting
The LEC Spring Split 2026 continues its regular season with increasingly pressing challenges for the competing teams. Before starting this first day of the third week of competition, Team Vitality was in very good form with a solid record of three victories for a single defeat and remained on a series of three consecutive successes. On the other side of Summoner’s Rift, G2 Esports was looking for reassurance after a mixed start to the season. The Samurais presented themselves with a score of parity of one victory for one defeat and absolutely needed a success to revive their momentum.
A first marathon clash and regrets for G2
The first card laid the foundations for a series of rare intensity with an exceptional duration of 52 minutes. From the start of the game, Lyncas on his Jarvan IV set a frantic pace by invading the opposing jungle to put SkewMond in great difficulty, the latter finishing the encounter with a very complicated KDA of 1/7/5 for 332 minions killed. This constant pressure applied in particular on the toplane heavily penalized BrokenBlade’s start to the game. G2 Esports nevertheless showed resilience to stabilize the situation. Just before the half hour mark, the Samurai formation managed to reverse the trend by quickly widening a significant gap flirting with 6K golds in advance, while ensuring careful control of the map.
Analysis of the timeline bears witness to this temporary domination with no less than four Nashor Barons recovered by G2 between the 25th and 44th minutes, all completed by an ancestral dragon secured in the 45th minute and the destruction of 11 turrets compared to only 9 for their opponents. However, the neutral goals accumulated early by Vitality, four dragons to get the soul in the 39th minute, provided crucial defensive statistics that largely stemmed G2’s snowball. The distance duel between the two botlanes kept all its promises with a formidable Hans Sama displaying a KDA of 9/3/4 for 547 CS, responding blow for blow to Carzzy who shone with a score of 8/3/5 and 540 minions killed. At the end of the suspense and after more than 51 minutes of a fierce fight, yet another fatal positioning error by SkewMond near the Nashor’s lair triggered a disastrous teamfight. Team Vitality was able to seize this unexpected opportunity to win this marathon down to the wire with a total of 19 kills against 14 and a slight final advantage of less than 2k golds.
The burst of pride of the Samurai and the sentence of the Bees
With their backs against the wall, G2 Esports reacted in the best possible way during the second part by selecting an extremely aggressive composition focused on Yasuo, Xin Zhao and LeBlanc. Faced with a more experimental draft from Vitality including a Pantheon in the jungle and a Ziggs on the botlane, the G2 players dictated their law from start to finish. Control of the objectives was total with four dragons recovered compared to only one for Vitality. Caps dominated the midlane debates with a KDA of 7/1/3 and 311 minions killed, while BrokenBlade perfectly muzzled the opposing initiatives. The aggressiveness of G2 completely stifled Lyncas and prevented Vitality from developing its game. The game ended quickly in 34 minutes with a clear advantage of more than 13k golds for G2 and a clear score of 14 kills to 7.
The final match of this Bo3 offered a radically different face, transforming into a long trench war. During the first half hour of play, the two teams observed each other with extreme caution. Team Vitality deployed a real macro lesson by relying on an impassable front lane composed of Lyncas’ Dr. Mundo and Naak Nako’s Aatrox. G2 tried to force fate with Olaf and Zoe but ran into an impenetrable defensive wall and was never able to reach the opposing backline. The asphyxiation was total as evidenced by the very low final score of 8 kills to 1 and an advantage of 9k golds in favor of Vitality. Naak Nako was clinical with a KDA of 4/1/1, allowing his team to secure 9 turrets to 3 and close out the series in 32 minutes.
Thanks to this victory acquired in three rounds, Team Vitality consolidates its status as favorite and climbs to first place in the ranking of this regular season with a score of four victories for one defeat. The team is led by a topside duo of remarkable consistency, particularly Naak Nako and Lyncas, praised for their consistency. The results are more difficult for G2 Esports which temporarily falls to 6th place in the rankings with a score of one victory for two defeats. The wanderings in the late game and the numerous positioning errors observed during the first game will have to be quickly corrected to move up in the rankings. All eyes are now turning towards the rest of the competition. Team Vitality will face Shifter on April 12 at 5:00 p.m. while G2 Esports will try to bounce back against SK on April 18 at 7:15 p.m.
