Education inter-union: the divorce officially consummated between the FSPE and the SLECG

The education inter-union was shattered this Saturday, April 11, 2026 at the Labor Exchange, marking a major strategic break in the conduct of teacher demands. During a general assembly, Michel Pépé Balamou, leader of the FSPE, officially announced that his organization and the SNE “will no longer work unionically with the SLECG” as long as the latter does not change its method.

This divide is not new: last December, the SNE and the FSPE had already launched a strike without the SLECG of Aboubacar Soumah, a movement which was finally suspended on January 3, 2026 after the signing of an agreement with the government.

This new divorce comes as the bloc disagrees over the follow-up to this January agreement. The FSPE and the SNE are now considering a return to the walkout, while Aboubacar Soumah rejects any forceful action.

The SLECG leader refuses to be drawn into a social conflict as long as negotiations continue, affirming that “the government has opened the corridor of dialogue”.

Faced with this umpteenth division, Michel Pépé Balamou recalled that the objective remains the defense of the corporation, insisting: “We are not in electoral competition. We fight for the teacher.
