It’s a return that few really expected on this field. After establishing itself in graphics cards and AI, NVIDIA is preparing a direct offensive on the PC processor market.

According to several corroborating sources including GinjFo, the firm is working on a chip called N1X. It was developed in partnership with MediaTek. It would target the portable PC segment, with an ARM architecture designed to compete head-on with x86 solutions from Intel and AMD. A timetable has recently become clear. An official presentation could take place at Computex 2026, a trade show that has become strategic for major hardware announcements.

An ARM architecture to compete with Apple

The choice of ARM architecture is not trivial. This approach should make it possible to offer an alternative to traditional CPUs, but not only that. Nvidia would also like to reproduce Apple’s success with its in-house chips.

The first information suggests a chip capable of embedding up to 20 CPU cores, combined with an iGPU close to the performance of a GeForce RTX 5070. If this information is confirmed NVIDIA would target the high-end laptop segment with a processor with unprecedented graphics performance for an integrated SoC.

This return from Nvidia would not really be surprising in the current context. The PC market is changing, with the rise of hybrid architectures and embedded AI. Moreover, behind all this there is also the issue of artificial intelligence. NVIDIA already dominates this market with its GPUs, but would also like to control the entire platform.
