An agreement was signed, in the north of the Gard department, late in the morning of Friday April 10. Here’s what you need to remember…

A time called to lead to “dynamism”And give “échanges”this is summarized, relaying the words of Aude Guiraudou-Samson, the president of Alès, the signing of the convention scheduled for the morning of this Friday, April 10, in the library of the Alès courthouse, between the Cévennes Bar Association and the university of Nîmes. This tightening of links between the bar and the higher education establishment should thus lead to the reception of more Nîmes law students in Alesian law firms, training within companies and local authorities, courses given in Nîmes by Alesian councils, the possibility for the latter to ensure their continuing training, and the organization of conferences.

Alongside, for the occasion, Jean-Charles Benezet, mayor of Saint-Christol-lez-Alès, Jean-Pierre De Faria, chief magistrate of Saint-Ambroix, and Christophe Rivenq, mayor of Alès and president of the Agglomeration, sub-prefect Émile Soumbo highlights the “issues” that this signature has on the territory, “especially for town hall secretaries”.

“Putting students as close as possible to professionals”

Benoit Roig, the president of the University of Nîmes, believes for his part that the initialed document is “important for our acuity”, “to bring students closer to professionals”. It is also for the establishment of the faculty in Gard, which must not be limited to the capital of the department. And in terms of teaching: “University is not only about teaching students, it is also about training employees, people who are in the world of work.”

Benoit Roig then stands as an ambassador of the university, “the smallest in France, but ranked 2nd in France in masters by “L’Étudiant””. He praises his “excellent training in law”, “extreme quality”which, he says, allows him to assert himself against the two major law schools between which that of Nîmes is stuck, Montpellier and Aix-en-Provence. He therefore invites students to stay in Gard. “We have small promotions and quality in license 3”he assures. “And our students have the ability to qualify to join masters in Aix or Montpellier.”
