The competition attracted 1,428 athletes from 302 primary, secondary and high schools in Ho Chi Minh City. Athletes participated in 42 individual martial arts events (men and women), as well as team and group events, training bouts and 36 combat events in different weight categories.
The competition referee team is composed of 65 referees, including national-level referees, referees from the Ha Chi Minh City Traditional Martial Arts Federation and the He Chi Minh City Sports Training and Competition Center, ensuring professionalism, fairness and the objectivity of the tournament.

During the opening ceremony, Master Ha Thi Yen Oanh, vice-president of the Vietnam Federation of Traditional Martial Arts, president of the Federation of Traditional Martial Arts of He Chi Minh City and member of the organizing committee, emphasized that Vietnamese traditional martial arts constitute a precious national cultural heritage, helping to shape the will, morality and character of young generations. This competition is an opportunity to promote physical training, in accordance with the “National Movement for Physical Training following the example of Great President Hô Chi Minh”, while discovering and training young talents, thus contributing to the ever-increasing development of the traditional martial arts movement.
The Ho Chi Minh City Student Sports Festival for the 2025-2026 school year will be organized on a large scale, with innovative implementation methods, attracting nearly 1,500 schools to participate in 20 sports, suitable for various physical conditions, interests and abilities of students.

This is also the first student sports competition held in He Chi Minh City since the reorganization of administrative boundaries and the implementation of the two-tier local government model, thereby contributing to positive changes in the organization of school sports activities, dissemination of physical activity and the construction of a dynamic and healthy educational environment.
During the Ho Chi Minh City Student Sports Festival for the 2025-2026 school year, the traditional martial arts competition will be held from April 9 to 14.
