As we learned The Parisian Yesterday, preparation is not always the strong point of apprentice robbers. Four young men, aged 21 to 24, were indicted on April 2 in Nanterre for criminal conspiracy. They are suspected of having attempted to kidnap a 23-year-old young investor in Boulogne-Billancourt (Hauts-de-Seine), on March 29. An operation which turned into a fiasco before it even began. The details.

The key points of this article:

  • Four young men were indicted for criminal conspiracy after an aborted kidnapping attempt in Boulogne-Billancourt.
  • A vigilant neighbor alerted police to a fake delivery man, leading to the suspects’ arrest and discovery of their intentions.

A fake delivery man and a vigilant neighbor

Everything changed on Sunday March 28, around 11:45 p.m. A fifty-year-old, living on a barge, sees his calm disturbed by an individual wearing a yellow vest who presents himself as a delivery man. Faced with this request, which was late and suspicious to say the least, the resident refused to open and immediately contacted the police.

The instinct of this local resident was saving. A patrol dispatched to the scene quickly spotted a Toyota Auris parked nearby. Inside, four individuals are apprehended. The search of the vehicle left little room for doubt as to their intentions: the police discovered a knife, gloves, a hat, as well as plastic ties (serflex) and new yellow vests.

Mathematics student saved by wrong address

Originally from Brunoy in Essonne and the 7th arrondissement of Paris, the suspects were placés en garde à vue avant que l’enqueête ne soit confiée à la banditry suppression brigade (BRB). It was the technical analysis of one of the seized phones that made it possible to understand the scenario.

Investigators discovered the photo and precise address of the real target. According to a source close to the case, the commando simply went to the wrong door. They were in reality targeting a neighbor, a mathematics student and keen on investing in cryptocurrencies.

This case is reminiscent of that of Boulevard Flandrin, which occurred last January in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, where a commando was arrested at the last minute while preparing to kidnap a couple from the crypto community.

Investigations are now continuing to determine whether these “nickel-plated feet” of Web3 were acting on their own behalf or under the orders of a sponsor. To be continued, on Le Journal du Coin.
