YEAH, THAT’S ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. WE’RE AT MOORE WEST JUNIOR HIGH RIGHT NOW. THAT’S IN THE AREA OF SOUTHWEST 89TH AND PENNSYLVANIA AVENUE. THERE IS A VERY, VERY LARGE LAW ENFORCEMENT PRESENCE IN THIS NEIGHBORHOOD BEHIND ME. I’M GOING TO STEP OUT SO YOU GUYS CAN SEE WHAT’S GOING ON. MULTIPLE LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES ARE ON THE SCENE RIGHT NOW. AND ACCORDING TO POLICE, THIS ALL STEMS FROM AN INCIDENT IN WHICH A SUSPECT SHOT AT AN OFFICER, THAT OFFICER RETURNING FIRE. WE JUST SPOKE WITH OKLAHOMA CITY POLICE WHO GAVE US MORE INFORMATION ABOUT WHAT IS GOING ON AND THE STEPS THEY TOOK TO MAKE SURE OTHER NEIGHBORS WERE SAFE. WE’VE EVACUATED THE IMMEDIATE SURROUNDINGS, SO WE DON’T THINK ANYBODY IS IN ANY DANGER RIGHT NOW WITH THE SITUATION AS IT STANDS. BUT THE LAST THING WE WANT IS TO HAVE BULLETS FLYING THROUGH A NEIGHBORHOOD AT ANY POINT. SO WE’RE DOING EVERYTHING WE CAN TO BRING THIS TO A PEACEFUL RESOLUTION. AND AS YOU JUST HEARD RIGHT THERE, OKLAHOMA CITY POLICE AND OTHER LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES ARE HOPING IN THIS QUICKLY AND PEACEFULLY. THIS IS STILL A VERY, VERY ACTIVE SCENE. Police were involved in a standoff after a shooting involving an officer in a southwest Oklahoma City neighborhood. At about 5:30 p.m., the Oklahoma City Police Department said officers were responding to a domestic situation at a residence near Southwest 96th Street and South Pennsylvania Avenue. The situation involved a man with a gun. Police said a suspect and a police officer exchanged gunfire, but the officer was not hit. Police said the officer only fired one shot, but it wasn’t clear if the man had been hit by the gunfire. As of 9:30 p.m., police were involved in a standoff with the man.
