More precisely, in 2008, the Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of Health published Circular No. 08 relating to hygiene and food safety measures in all educational establishments. In 2016, the Ministry of Health also published a joint circular specifically on protecting the health of students.

Each year, the Department of Education and Training includes this content in its guidance documents and requires educational institutions to strictly implement it.

“Recently, following concerns over unsafe food sold to schools, the Ministry of Education and Training issued Official Document No. 1602 ordering provincial education departments and institutions of vocational education to continue to implement the regulations on food safety,” said Mr. Minh.

The Ministry of Education and Training has asked all establishments to urgently conduct a review and inspection of all contracts relating to units and organizations providing meals and foodstuffs to schools and educational institutions, requiring implementation strict and appropriate, as well as immediate termination of any violation.

In addition, the ministry also ordered that all units providing meals and food to educational institutions should be made public through the media so that functional units and the entire society can monitor them and quickly detect violations.

The Ministry of Education and Training also ordered the strengthening of awareness and education on hygiene and food safety among all teachers, administrators and school staff in order to effectively implement this measure, particularly in school kitchens and canteens. educational establishments and schools.

In the future, the Ministry will strengthen the coordination of inspections between educational institutions, health institutions and relevant authorities to monitor and promptly detect violations, and make recommendations on measures to strengthen the accountability of heads of institutions of teaching in the event of an infraction.
