DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings today signed forward Noah Dower-Nilsson to a three-year, entry-level contract starting from the 2026-27 season.
Dower-Nilsson, aged 20, played for Frölunda HC in the Swedish Hockey League during the 2025-26 season. He scored 16 points (6 goals, 10 assists), had a plus-seven rating, and received 10 penalty minutes in 48 regular-season games. The 6-foot, 185-pound forward also contributed four points (2 goals, 2 assists) and two penalty minutes in six playoff games. Dower-Nilsson was part of the winning team for the Champions Hockey League with Frölunda HC in 2026, where he provided two assists and two penalty minutes in 12 matches. He played for Frölunda HC in Sweden’s top professional league during the 2024-25 season, achieving 10 points (4 goals, 6 assists) and 10 penalty minutes in 35 regular-season games, along with two penalty minutes in seven playoff games. Selected by the Red Wings in the third round (73rd overall) of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, Dower-Nilsson has accumulated 28 points (11 goals, 17 assists), a plus-six rating, and 20 penalty minutes in 91 SHL games with Frölunda HC since 2022-23.
Originally from Strömstad, Sweden, Dower-Nilsson scored 62 points (31 goals, 31 assists) and received 14 penalty minutes in 52 games with Frölunda’s under-20 team. He also notched 45 points (18 goals, 27 assists) and 38 penalty minutes in 27 games for their under-18 squad, as well as 66 points (31 goals, 35 assists) and 22 penalty minutes in 41 games at the under-16 level. On the international stage, Dower-Nilsson won a silver medal at the 2023 IIHF World Under-18 Championship, contributing six points (2 goals, 4 assists) and six penalty minutes in seven games. He also secured a bronze medal at the 2022 World Junior A Challenge, appearing in two games. Dower-Nilsson also took home a silver medal at the 2022 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, recording four points (1 goal, 3 assists) and two penalty minutes in five games.
