His arrival owes nothing to chance. Groen emerges weakened from the 2024 elections with a significant loss of voters and stagnant polls around 7.5%. The party has suffered a series of internal crises and changes of direction. Several important figures have left the ship such as Petra De Sutter, Kristof Calvo or his predecessor Bart Dhondt, leaving behind a movement in search of renewal.
In this context, Aimen Horch appears as an attempt at revival. His energy, his audacity and his ability to mobilize young people became his main assets.
Questioned by BRUZZ (Brussels media, covers local news), he explains: “As an MP, I work for the party on issues such as climate and energy. I studied environmental sciences and was involved in climate marches. I know that the word “climate” doesn’t stick to my forehead, but the climate issue is existential for me. Not only for our health here in Belgium, but also for example for my family in Algeria, where farmers feel the desertification of their fields. It destroys lives. We will always continue to capture the climate. “
