On the afternoon of April 5, the newspaper Thanh Nien organized the closing ceremony and final match of the 2nd International Youth and Student Football Tournament 2026 – THACO Cup – between University of Water Resources and National University of Malaysia, with the participation of coach Kim Sang Sik.

During the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Toan, editor-in-chief of journal Thanh Nien and head of the organizing committee, said he hoped that all the teams would have had wonderful experiences, both on and off the field, in Nha Trang after this tournament.

“We are confident that the memories of this tournament will remain forever etched in the minds of young people, as a symbol of peace and friendship between the brotherly nations of Southeast Asia,” said Mr. Toan.

During the tournament final, the appearance of coach Kim Sang Sik aroused keen interest among students and football fans.

Coach Kim Sang Sik interacted with the fans, gave them flowers and encouraged the players before the final.

Before attending the tournament final, Mr. Kim spent a short stay at Nha Trang University.

The National University of Malaysia wins the International Youth Football Tournament.

In the excited atmosphere of thousands of spectators, the tournament final quickly reached a frantic pace from the first minutes. The University of Water Resources team approached the match with confidence, imposing an aggressive game and relentlessly pressing the opposing camp.

For its part, the National University of Malaysia demonstrated resilience and excellent organization. The Malaysian representatives did not hesitate to adopt an attacking game, exploiting the speed of their wingers to create numerous dangerous counter-attacking opportunities.

After two halves ended in a 1-1 draw, the two teams faced off in a thrilling penalty shootout.

In the penalty shootout, composure and precision allowed the Malaysian representatives to achieve the final victory and, as a result, the champion title.
