BIG REPORT – Under the protection of Saint Jacques, the region generously offers its lands, in love with the sea. All roads lead of course to Compostela, but it would be crazy not to move away from it. Galicia is not just about the “camino”…
We cut the road, off the path, to Santiago de Compostela. A plane from Paris and finally a rental car drops us off – without blisters on our feet – in this city which reminds us, with each error, of our misstep. It was by walking that we should have reached her like all these “Jacquets” of which Jean-Christophe Rufin was a part. In his book Wandering immortalsil écrit : “The joy of the journey is made up of these moments that those who ride at high speed, up there, on the roadway without the obstacle of the present, will always ignore.”
Out of this rhythm, we guess the intensity of these moments spent on the camino, crystallized by the emotions of the pilgrims arriving at their goal. Crushed with fatigue, muddy and glistening with sweat… Nevertheless, their faces emanate a luminous and entirely interior peace. A contagious happiness floats above the cobblestones. On the Praza de Obradoiro everything is only tears, cries and songs – more rarely, silence and contemplation…
