The air defenses in both Israel and Kuwait were immediately activated in the face of this news, salvo at 37e day of the war triggered by an Israeli-American offensive against Iran.

“Kuwaiti air defenses are currently facing threats from hostile missiles and drones,” the General Staff wrote on the social network X, while the authorities reported heavy damage after an Iranian attack Saturday evening against a ministerial complex in the capital.

In addition, the fate of an American aviator missing after a fighter plane crashed in Iran on Friday remains unknown.

“You remember when I gave Iran 10 days to MAKE AN AGREEMENT or REOPEN THE STRAIT OF HOMUZ. Time is running out – 48 hours before unleashing hell on them,” the American president wrote on Saturday on his Truth Social platform.

On March 26, the American leader issued a 10-day ultimatum to Tehran to reopen this key sea route for the world economy and blocked by Iran since the start of the war. Failing that, Mr. Trump had threatened to destroy power plants in Iran. The deadline was then set for “Monday, April 6 at 8 p.m. Washington time.”

The Iranian armed forces rejected this ultimatum, deeming the American president’s threats to “unleash hell” on Iran “stupid”.

Donald Trump also published a new message in which he assured that “many” senior Iranian military officials were killed in a “massive strike in Tehran”, without specifying when this strike took place.

nuclear power plant

On Saturday, the Bushehr nuclear power plant, built with Russian help, was targeted by a strike. The only operational civilian nuclear installation in Iran, it has already been targeted four times since the start of the war on February 28.

According to the Irna press agency, a projectile hit “an area close to the power plant”, where a guard was killed. No damage was noted on the installations.

Russia announced that nearly 200 employees of nuclear giant Rosatom had begun to evacuate the plant.

Meanwhile, Tehran and Washington are working to find one of the two occupants of the first American plane to crash in Iran since the start of the war, of which there has been no news since Friday.

The Iranian army claimed to have shot down an F-15E fighter-bomber. One of the two aviators ejected and was exfiltrated by special forces, the fate of the second remaining unknown, American media reported.

Neither the Pentagon nor the White House, silent on the subject, have confirmed this information at this stage.

Since the start of the war, no American soldier has been killed or captured on Iranian soil, but 13 have died in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Iraq.

Extending to several countries in the region, the hostilities have left thousands dead, mainly in Iran and Lebanon, and damaged or destroyed numerous military and civilian infrastructures.

Deaths in Lebanon

Iran says it is targeting Gulf countries including Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, which harbor American interests, in retaliation for strikes targeting its territory.

In the Strait of Hormuz, the Revolutionary Guards, the ideological army of the Islamic Republic, said on Saturday that they had targeted by drone a ship “linked” to Israel, which caught fire in a port in Bahrain.

On Saturday evening, the Israeli army announced that a new missile had been fired from Yemen towards Israel.

In Lebanon, where the Israeli army is fighting against the pro-Iranian Hezbollah movement, seven people were killed, including two young girls, and more than 40 injured in Israeli strikes on Saturday in the south of the country, according to the Health Ministry.

Israel, for its part, announced the death of one of its soldiers “in combat” in southern Lebanon, bringing to 11 the number of Israeli soldiers killed since March 2 in this theater of operations.

Two demonstrations against the war took place on Saturday in the Middle East: in Tel Aviv, more than a thousand people gathered before being dispersed by the police.

In Baghdad and across Iraq, tens of thousands of supporters of influential Shiite leader Moqtada Sadr gathered to condemn Israel and the United States, and call for an end to the conflict.
