Troops from Operation Enduring Peace of the Nigerian Army have successfully taken down three terrorists and apprehended two people who were trying to set fire to residential buildings in Plateau State. In a statement released on Friday by Captain Chinonso Oteh, the Media Information Officer, the operation took place in Dutse Uku, Jos North Local Government Area.

Responding to a distress call about gunfire in the area, the troops intercepted and arrested two individuals pretending to be security personnel. These impostors were found dressed in black tactical uniforms while involved in setting ablaze residential properties and inciting violence within the community.

The statement emphasized that the arrested individuals are currently in custody, while two others who were injured during the operation have been taken to a medical facility and are in stable condition. It also refuted recent allegations of military involvement in the unrest in Jos North, highlighting that the criminal activities are being carried out by deceptive elements disguising themselves as security forces.

Additionally, the troops expanded their operation to Karem in Wase Local Government Area, where they encountered a large group of terrorists traveling on motorcycles. In the ensuing confrontation, three criminals were eliminated by the military.

The successful operations were attributed to the strategic deployment of additional troops, including counter-terrorism specialists, as directed by the Chief of Army Staff. This boosted the security presence in the state and allowed for more proactive control in volatile areas. The military vowed to continue its mission of eliminating threats to public peace by targeting hoodlums, insurgents, and criminal groups operating in the region.

Residents were urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities to support the ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security in the area.
