Tesla Model Y with record sales in France, Citroën C5 Aircross electric with XXL autonomy, electric car batteries which resist up to 90,000 km without major degradation, and Allego which is launching a mobile charging application without commission. Automobile Propre takes stock in its weekly recap.
Act
The Tesla Model Y largely dominates the electric vehicle market in France with 7,023 registrations in March 2026, contributing to a total of 49,406 new electric cars sold this month, representing a record market share of 28.5% in a strongly growing total market (+68.9% year-on-year). This performance is based in particular on an aggressive commercial offer with recovery assistance of €5,000. Also note the progress of the Renault Scénic and the confirmation of demand for certain Skoda and Ford models (Tesla Model Y and electric sales in France).
Citroën unveils a long-range version of its electric C5 Aircross equipped with a 97 kWh battery offering up to 680 km of range according to the WLTP cycle, a significant jump compared to the first version. The SUV offers a 230 horsepower engine, an 11 kW three-phase AC charger as standard, and fast charging up to 160 kW. The launch of orders is scheduled for the beginning of April 2026 with an entry price of €46,990, positioning this model against the Peugeot e-3008 with similar features but a more spacious interior (Citroën C5 Aircross electric XXL autonomy).
A study of more than 50,000 electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles produced between 2016 and 2026 highlights excellent battery resistance, with an almost stable capacity up to 90,000 km (loss of only 0.7% every 10,000 km). Beyond that, the deterioration accelerates to around 2.3% every 10,000 km, which nevertheless remains a good indicator of durability for the majority of drivers. These results reassure about the longevity of batteries and the chemical reliability of current technologies (durability of batteries up to 90,000 km).
On the recharge front, Allego offers a new mobile application which references more than a million charging points in Europe and allows you to launch a commission-free recharge. The user pays the exact price set by the charging point operator, without additional costs, thus offering unprecedented price transparency compared to usual platforms. The application embodies a bet on simplicity and the right price, even if it remains less community-based than certain competitors like Chargemap (Allego application without commission).
Automobile Propre will continue to monitor these key developments in electric mobility in the coming weeks.
