At the heart of many rumors for quite a while, the PS6 Portable is now being talked about again through new information on its supposed power.
For many months now, rumors have been accumulating around the future of PlayStation on the console market. Of course, since the announcement of “Project Amethyst”, it is quite naturally towards the PS6 that all eyes are turned, even if information is still quite scarce. But things don’t stop there. Because with the success of the PS Portal, and for the first time since the PS Vita, Sony could also prepare its return to the portable market with a PS6 Portable, which could well be a pretty powerful monster.
The PS6 Portable would be more powerful than the Xbox Series S
In any case, this is what the leaker KeplerL2, at the origin of many rumors around the next generations of consoles, said in a new post published on NeoGaf. According to the latter, players can indeed expect the PS6 Portable’s GPU to be “A little ahead of the Xbox Series S in raster”but also “Way ahead of ray-tracing and path-tracing”. Enough to ensure the machine has a certain power, therefore, which should also unsurprisingly go beyond the specifications of the Nintendo Switch 2.
“The Switch 2 only has DLSS 2 (CNN) and some games even use ‘DLSS Lite’, which is less efficient.” assures KeplerL2. The PS6 Portable, for its part, should resort to the use of the FSR5 and the PSSR 3, which will offer “Better image quality than current DLSS 4.5”. Of course, needless to say, all this should be taken with a grain of salt for the moment. Let us remember that to date, there is nothing to support the existence of a PS6 Portable, even if several clues seem to point in this direction.

In any case, there is no doubt that the public would respond if this were to happen, especially at a time when portable machines are increasingly tending to reestablish themselves on the market. The success of the Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo Switch 2 can attest to this, as can the reception reserved for machines like the PS Portal, the Steam Deck and the ROG Xbox Ally, which could guarantee a certain success for a possible PS6 Portable. It now remains to be discovered whether all this can be verified, and above all, when.
