iOS 27: here are three new features to expect (apart from Siri and AI)

Only two months (and a few days) to wait before WWDC 2026 and the presentation of Apple’s next systems. Indeed, iOS 27 will be unveiled on June 8 during WWDC 2026, with a major overhaul expected around Siri and artificial intelligence. But beyond these highly anticipated announcements, Apple is also preparing several more discreet developments.

iOS 27: here are three new features to expect (apart from Siri and AI)

A more customizable “Liquid Glass” interface

With iOS 26, Apple introduced le design Liquid Glass, a new visual approach combining transparency and depth effects. A year later, she does not intend to stop there and should refine this interface, including the arrival of a new setting allowing you to adjust the intensity of these effects.

Today, only the locked screen offers a similar control for the clock. Tomorrow, this customization could extend to more elements of the system. A logical evolution for a design which, despite its aesthetics, has not not unanimous among users. Apple is also reportedly working on more global adjustments to the interface, but nothing revolutionary at this stage.

An expected overhaul of the Calendar (and native apps)

Among the more concrete projects, the Calendar application could finally benefit from an in-depth overhaul. Already mentioned last year, this update would have been postponed to finally integrate into iOS 27.

The objective would be to modernize an app that has become a little austere in the face of competitors like Fantastical or Google Calendar. We can expect better event handling, a clearer interface and perhaps a deeper integration with Apple Intelligence features.

Other system applications should also evolve, including Safari and Photos. At this stage, these changes still remain unclear, but they contribute to a gradual upgrading of the ecosystem.

iPhone Fold : les premiers indices côté multitâche

Finally, iOS 27 should lay the software foundations for the future foldable iPhone expected this year. Even if Apple will probably not reveal all of its cards at WWDC, some bricks could already be present.

We particularly mention iPad-inspired interfaceswith side-by-side applications and a more advanced multitouch. An essential development to fully exploit a foldable screen and compete with the solutions already offered by Samsung or Google. These new features could remain partly invisible until the launch of the product, but they mark a turning point in Apple’s strategy on hybrid formats.

What do you think?

If Siri and AI should capture most of the attention, iOS 27 is also part of a refinement and transition logic. Apple is improving its design, modernizing its applications and gradually preparing for the arrival of new uses, particularly around the foldable format.

It is not a revolution in appearance, but rather a set of consistent adjustments which show a longer term strategy. The real question will be whether these developments will be enough to reposition Apple in the face of competition that is already very advanced in artificial intelligence.
