Music producer Sidney “Omen” Brown was found dead in his apartment in September due to a heart complication, according to the New York City Medical Examiner’s office.
Brown passed away from atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, with the cause of death ruled as natural.
At 49 years old, Brown was a renowned producer who collaborated with big-name artists like Ludacris, Drake, and Beyoncé.
Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) results from plaque buildup in arteries, encompassing conditions like coronary heart disease, cerebrovascular disease, peripheral artery disease, and aortic atherosclerotic disease. The American Heart Association states that ASCVD-related conditions are a major cause of global morbidity and mortality.
Brown’s family discovered him deceased in his New York City apartment after he missed a DJing commitment at Barawine Harlem. His sister, Nicole Iris Brown, highlighted his healthy lifestyle and expressed shock at his sudden passing. She mentioned that there were no prior indications of heart issues.
Nicole Iris Brown expressed a mix of emotions upon learning the cause of her brother’s death, relieved that it was of natural causes and not due to foul play. The family had to endure a lengthy wait for autopsy results, during which they organized several celebrations to honor Brown’s life and work as a DJ.
Describing Brown as a lover of music, arts, and mentorship, Nicole Iris Brown emphasized his impact on those who knew him, expressing sorrow over the unexpected loss and longing for more time with him.
