Minecraft: Abandoned ideas added in future updates?

Between the arrival of Tiny Takeover and the announcement of Chaos Cubed, the updates seem to come one after another at full speed in Minecraft. Moreover, animal lovers and explorers can’t wait to meet the new babies, explore the sulfur caverns and find the new blocks of this underground region. But what do Mojang developers have in store for us after these two major additions?

There is no shortage of inspiration, but also ideas that are sometimes difficult to realize

The Mojang teams regularly inform the community about upcoming additions through blog posts published on the game’s official website, but also via Minecraft Live, the biannual event which presents upcoming game drops. In order to imagine these new features, there is no shortage of ideas in the premises. But in a recent interview with GamesRadar, Anna Lundgren (Product Manager at Mojang) made a surprising revelation about these inspirations.

She confides that« nothing is ever excluded regarding future possibilities » and that the developers have “ always more ideas than we can realize at any given time, but I also like the fact that This doesn’t necessarily mean that certain things will never come to fruition. ».

This means that if an idea was mentioned but abandoned, it can come back to the forefront and become a new feature in the game. In fact, one of these ideas that was put aside and seemed doomed was recently integrated into the game.

The case of the Copper Golem, the most famous example of an idea abandoned and then added to Minecraft

In September 2025, Minecraft received the copper-themed “The Copper Age” update. If this added the possibility of manufacturing equipment based on this ore for your character, the most talked about item at the time was the Copper Golem. This adorable companion, however, almost never discovered the cubic world because he had been put aside by the developers.

The latter had been presented for the first time in 2021 and was a finalist in the community vote of that same year. But it took several years of patience and many messages from the community for it to officially debut in the game.

All ideas are therefore kept and may integrate a future update of Minecraft. So don’t lose hope if an item announced in the past has not yet been added. It could arrive in the near future…
