An H2 chip to modernize AirPods Max
This is the main evolution: AirPods Max move to the H2 chip, already present in recent AirPods Pro. Concretely, it will allow improved active noise reduction (Apple mentions up to +50%) and the arrival of new modern functions such asAdaptive Audio, Conversation Awarenessor Voice Isolation. It will also be possible to interact with Siri via head movements.
Finally, it should allow deeper integration with Apple Intelligence functions. Transparency mode has also been revised, with more natural ambient sound processing.
A leap in audio quality (and lossless wired)
Apple also promises améliorations sonores notable with a new high dynamic amplifier, better bass precision, more natural mids and highs and reinforced Spatial Audio. Wired via USB-C, AirPods Max 2 now supportaudio lossless 24 bits / 48 kHz. Apple highlights advanced use for creators, notably with the possibility of working in Spatial Audio in Logic Pro.
Gaming, microphone and new functions
The AirPods Max 2 also gain in versatility with reduced latency for gaming, an optimized game mode on iOS, macOS and iPadOS, as well as improved microphone quality for creators and podcasters and camera control via the Digital Crown. Additions which aim to broaden uses beyond simple musical listening.
Availability and price
AirPods Max 2 are available in five colorsÂ: Midnight, Starlight, Orange, Violet, and Blue. Unfortunately the minimalist case (with a design that is far from unanimously approved) is still there.
Pre-orders have been open since March 25 and deliveries started today, marketing date all over the world. The price remains unchanged at 579 euros. Generation 1, which has nothing to complain about in the situation, is also on sale at 479 euros.
