Twenty years after its debut, “Hannah Montana” remains a defining show of its era. Premiering on Disney Channel in 2006, the series followed the double life of a teenage girl, Miley Stewart, who was balancing secret global fame as Hannah Montana with her ordinary adolescence.

Now, to celebrate 20 years of “Hannah Montana,” Cyrus has gone back to her Disney roots for an anniversary special.
Where it all began Cyrus was just 13 years old when “Hannah Montana” began.
The show also starred Cyrus’ father, singer Billy Ray Cyrus, who played Hannah Montana’s manager and father, Robbie Ray. The real-life father-daughter dynamic contributed to the show’s appeal, reinforcing themes of familial trust.
Within its first season, the show became one of Disney Channel’s highest-rated programs, driving record viewership and establishing Cyrus as a breakout star.
The show’s success extended beyond television, fueling album releases, sold-out concerts, and merchandise. The franchise grew into a global phenomenon, resonating with a generation of kids and teens and shaping the foundation of youth entertainment.
“You’ll Always Find Your Way Back Home” On March 24, the “Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special” aired on Disney+. The celebration allowed fans from around the country to come together and reminisce over their love for the show.
Throughout the special, Cyrus toured the famous set of where “Hannah Montana” took place, including the iconic rotating closet that symbolized her character’s double life. She reflected on some of her most memorable moments from the series and shared some behind-the-scenes insights from her time on set.
The special also featured performances, nostalgic reunions, and an interview between Cyrus and podcaster Alex Cooper. The special gave Cyrus a chance to revisit the character from a new perspective, blending her adult identity with her younger self.
Cyrus described the experience as a full-circle moment, reflecting on her connection that started her career and continues to shape her till this day.
“I loved being Hannah then,” Cyrus said on stage during the special. “I’m so living for it now.”
