According to BloombergApple is reportedly considering introducing an auto-correction system capable of offering multiple word alternatives, rather than a single auto-correction.
Today, the iPhone keyboard directly corrects certain terms, sometimes imprecisely. With this development, the user could choose between different word suggestions, depending on the meaning of their sentence. An approach that draws inspiration from assisted writing tools already present on other platforms.
This system would be designed to better understand the writing context. It would no longer be just a matter of correcting a mistake, but of anticipating the user’s intention. This could limit common errors, especially when typing quickly or in situations where attention is reduced.
Apple has already started improving its keyboard with iOS 26.4, fixing a bug that prevented certain characters from being taken into account during rapid typing. These adjustments have made input more reliable, but they remain limited compared to the ambitions mentioned for iOS 27.
The new functionality could rely on technologies linked to Apple Intelligence. This suggests that it could be reserved for iPhones compatible with these capabilities, as is already the case for certain advanced functions.
For the moment, Apple has not officially confirmed the arrival of this development. The final decision regarding its integration into iOS 27 has not yet been made. But this work shows that the keyboard remains a priority project for the manufacturer, which finally wants to accelerate in the field of AI.
