After the school of music concert this Monday, March 30, the musicians of Combloux will gather for a concert with those of Domancy, at the Tour Carrée on Thursday, April 2 at 6:30 pm. “The school of music concert was a milestone in their year to showcase the work of their quarter on natural instruments, the ones found in brass bands. In the first quarter, they worked on the piston instruments found in harmonies. This dual curriculum is interesting for them. The idea was also to put them back on stage, in front of their audience and showcase their work,” explains Benjamin Felix, the new conductor of the brass band in Combloux.
Mixing generations
“The Thursday concert is a big event. It will bring together the 6 classes of orchestras at the schools of Combloux, Sainte-Marie, and Beauregard, who will perform the first part with a program they put together with the new pieces worked on this quarter.” The rest of the concert will bring together an intergenerational orchestra made up of musicians from Combloux and Saint-Gervais Domancy. “The project is to come together. We each proposed three pieces that we worked on individually and we will end with a piece in common with all the musicians of the evening. The musicians of the brass bands already know each other well, but on this evening, the important thing is that all generations will intersect, from 2nd graders to the former orchestras. This represents 150 musicians if everyone is present.”
The concert of about an hour of music (free and open to all) will start at 6:30 pm. The musicians of Combloux will make waves this spring with a parade shared again with the school orchestras on May 8. Then a concert for the Music Festival on June 21 followed by the end-of-year concert of the music school on June 2 with an open day and the concert of the school orchestras on July 2 at the green center of the plan of water. Quite a program!
