The number of nights booked on platforms in Luxembourg increased by 10% between 2024 and 2025.Canva/Image d’illustration

In 2025, the EU recorded 951.6 million nights in short-term accommodation booked on online platforms such as Airbnb, Booking and Expedia, or 11.4% more than in 2024, Eurostat said on Wednesday. Unsurprisingly, the tourist destinations are the most popular: Jadranska Hrvatska in Croatia (27.7 million overnight stays), ahead of Andalusia in Spain (19.5 million) and the Cote d’Azur in France (16.9 million).

Luxembourg is obviously less in demand but is still making a small place for itself. It recorded 546,505 overnight stays in 2025 compared to 495,903 in 2024 (+10.2%).

+20% in October

A peak was recorded in July and August (nearly 118,000 overnight stays). From July to September of last year, 164,668 overnight stays were recorded in the Grand Duchy, compared to 149,749 during the same period in 2024 (+9.9%). The progression is in line with that observed in the EU (+10.9%).

Note in 2025, an unusual size rebound last October (+20% compared to October 2024), undoubtedly due to an exceptional event: the Trounwiessel from October 3 to 5 undoubtedly has something to do with it.

The sector seems to be doing well overall, after years marked by the Covid-19 crisis and its consequences. As are the platforms connecting customers and professionals. Over the first nine months of 2025, activity has already reached more than 94% of that of the whole of 2023.
