Calp will install free Wi-Fi in its squares and public spaces to promote smart tourism.

Calp City Hall has announced the installation of free Wi-Fi hotspots in the main squares of the old town and in other public spaces in the municipality, such as the Creativity Park and municipal sports facilities. This initiative, rewarded by the 31 Mars 2026It aims to consolidate Calp as a smart tourist destination and promote the digital inclusion of residents and visitors.

The investment and technology behind the project

The council awarded this project to the company. Calpe Networks, SLwith an amount of 39.756,71€The project provides for the deployment of a wireless network based on Wi-Fi technology. For its installation, the facades of public buildings will serve as support for access points, and the existing public lighting network will be used for the passage of cables and connections. This strategy will accelerate deployment and reduce costs linked to the creation of new infrastructure.

Strategic locations for connection

Wi-Fi hotspots will be installed at various strategic locations to ensure wide coverage. Among the squares in the old town which will benefit, we can cite:

  • Mosquito
  • Spain
  • You village
  • Blessed Francisco Sendra
  • Miguel Roselló
  • Manuel Miró
  • Rainbow

In addition, the connection will be available at other key points of the municipality such as the Plaza Mayor, the Creativity Park, the Polideportivo and the Miguel àngel BenÃtez courts.

Calp moves towards smart and sustainable tourism

This initiative is part of Calp Sustainable Tourism Development Plan (PSTD)framed in the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience PlanThe project is financed by funds Nouvelle GénérationUEIts main objective is to facilitate access to information and to offer a value-added service to residents and visitors. This action is described in the DTI Master Planapproved in 2017and aligns with Municipality’s 2020-2030 strategic tourism planBoth plans aim to modernize destinations using digital tools in order to promote more diversified, better quality and environmentally friendly tourism.
