Microsoft is suspending the rollout of an optional update after it confronted users with error messages during installation.
Microsoft has rolled out an optional update, KB5079391, which contains some improvements for Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2. However, this update also causes installation issues, which caused the deployment to be suspended.
Échecs d’installation
Users who attempted to install the update were presented with error code 0x80073712. This message indicates that update files are missing or corrupt. According to Microsoft, the cause is currently under investigation. The update was only available for one to two hours before deployment was suspended.
Problème récurrent
This isn’t the first time a Windows update has had to be pulled or patched after release. Optional updates, in particular, seem to cause problems more frequently. Routine security updates can also cause difficulties. Recently, an update prevented computers running Windows 11 from shutting down, while another caused connection issues, including in Microsoft Teams and OneDrive. Microsoft is meanwhile working on a tailored approach to updates, allowing users to pause updates for longer to avoid risks.
For now, we have to wait until Microsoft deploys a corrected version of the update again.
