The Polytechnic School and the Tandon School of Engineering of New York University (NYU) signed an agreement at the end of February, thus affirming their common desire to facilitate and encourage international mobility between the two institutions, particularly in the context of research internships. Seven polytechnic students are preparing to carry out their third year internship in different NYU laboratories from the end of March.

The Polytechnic School and the Tandon School of Engineering of New York University (NYU) formalize and deepen their collaboration thanks to a framework agreement, which will facilitate future exchanges and joint projects at several levels. Signed on February 25, 2026, the agreement initially aims in particular at the establishment ofa scientific internship program, offering students from both institutions the opportunity to benefit from research experience within the partner’s international laboratoriesin the United States or France.Â

It will facilitate the communication of research internship offers and will simplify the application process for X students to carry out the scientific internship in the third year of the polytechnic engineering cycle in an NYU laboratory. Seven polytechnic students are preparing to leave for New York where they will carry out their research internships in six different NYU laboratories for four to five months.

L’X will welcome two NYU students as part of its international talent search program in June 2026.

Furthermore, of numerous scientific collaborations exist between researchers from l’X and NYU, particularly in applied mathematicsand it is not uncommon to come across researchers at NYU who have previously worked or studied at the X. Among them, Nizar Touzi now occupies the chair of the Finance and Risk Engineering department at the Tandon School of Engineering. After having been professor of applied mathematics and head of the financial mathematics group at the École Polytechnique from 2006 to 2023, he was well placed to experience the academic excellence of students.

Thus, he regularly welcomes interns to the RiskEcon® Lab for Decision Metrics, of which he is co-scientific leader and which is part of the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at NYU. Matthieu Blanke (X2017), for his part, conducted his postdoctoral research in artificial intelligence at NYU’s Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, focusing on deep learning applied to climate.

NYU – a prestigious university in the heart of New York

Founded in 1831, NYU is one of the largest private, nonprofit universities in the United States and brings together fifteen establishments (Schools, Colleges and Divisions) spread over six campuses à travers Manhattan.

NYU’s reputation in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics is based in particular on the theoretical excellence of the Courant Institute, considered the world reference center in applied mathematics on an international scale, and the Tandon School of Engineering. Highlighting the mathematical foundations of AI, the Courant Institute School of Mathematics, Computing, and Data Science (CIMS) conducts cutting-edge research in the areas of partial differential equations (PDE), probability and scientific computing and counts among its professors prestigious scientists such as Yann Le Cun.

The Center for Cybersecurity (CCS) at the Tandon School of Engineering is one of America’s premier centers specializing in the security of computer systems, networks and data. Additionally, since 2018, NYU’s Tandon School has consistently been ranked among the top 25-35 engineering programs in the United States.
