Located on rue du Mandarous in Millau since 2025, the association now has around sixty members.
Located in the heart of downtown Millau, “Snooz!” focuses on do-it-yourself and reuse. And on the occasion of its first anniversary, Wednesday 1is April, the association opens its doors to the public to discover its world.
Born from the imagination of Noleen Hugenin and Léa Tournebize, two Breton women trained in object design, “Snooz!” first saw the light of day in the form of a collective in 2019. Its name, borrowed from the “repeat” function of the alarm clock in English, evokes this extension of cycle of objects by giving a second life to matter. Coffee grounds, brewers’ grains, leather, cardboard… So many materials recovered and transformed into clothes, furniture, games and even flower pots.
From 2021, and its installation at the Millau Business House, “Snooz!” gradually gaining momentum. The involvement of friends, associations and local businesses helps to structure the project and to consider new ambitions.
A place of creation and meeting
And it is in 2025 that the project takes a new step, with its premises to welcome members and tinker. Designed as a shared workshop, this place allows you to pool recovered tools and materials. “Artisans provide us with scraps of textiles, moss or wood, and residents also bring us tools that they no longer use.“, explains Noleen Hugenin.
Here, there is no question of placing an order or buying. The objective is above all to learn and do it yourself, with the support of volunteers, while remaining a meeting place. “It is a space to create, but also to build social connections. For example, mothers meet on Wednesday afternoon to take some time“, she adds.
Workshops based on materials
This logic of reuse fuels the workshops organized each month, at the rate of around six meetings. They are often imagined according to the materials available or the desires of members. “We can work from paragliding canvases for sewing, or offer workshops around wood or leather.“, précise Noleen Hugenin.
Today, “Snooz!” has more than 60 members, each using the premises according to their needs: participation in workshops, occasional DIY or access to materials from the resource center. Ultimately, Noleen Hugenin would like to become employed in order to monitor projects and continue the development of the structure.
