Finally, the sequel is here. I watched Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 and I’m giving you my spoiler-free review. After the Shibuya incident, a major change occurred in the world of exorcism. Yuji Itadori and Yuta Okkotsu will finally meet.
The second season of Jujutsu Kaisen blew me away, an excellent season for its story, surprises, avalanche of deaths, and beautiful artistic direction. It’s extremely difficult to follow such an incredible season. And this third season, I found it very good, but a notch below the second one, clearly missing half of the season.
Firstly, the story takes a real turn. The universe is shaken up by the events of the second season, which means a lot of things change. This makes this season a bit confusing. There are a lot of new things to grasp, whether it’s the new rules, new characters, new concepts. The stakes are clear but the path to get there is often incomprehensible. The season takes time to set its foundations and finally get started. But once it starts, we are completely immersed in the animation. I love the tone of this animation, it’s gory, cruel, violent, with even some little touches of humor. There is some reflection behind these stories. The world of exorcists is simply fantastic, nothing to say. The characters are excellent, even the new ones introduced, there is a certain quirkiness that I like. It’s true that it seems to go in all directions, with very special powers, fights that become anything… But that’s what I enjoyed. Especially with such excellent artistic direction, the animation is stunning, dynamic, very lively, the staging is superb, and the music is perfect.
