Last week, Big Brother Canada viewers were very vocal about their disappointment with the Twist of the Head of Household Competition, which silenced several jury members leading up to the final vote.
The season winner, Gabrielle Côté, addressed the issue in an interview with Showbizz.net.
“Big Brother is not a game that is meant to be fair,” she says. “It’s a game designed to have twists that benefit some people and disadvantage others. That’s why we love this game. So, as much as it wasn’t my favorite twist to experience, I’m glad it existed because it added an extra challenge.”
“During the twist, I didn’t find it very interesting, but looking back, I think it’s important to have things like that,” she added.
She continued, “It was difficult for me to do it because it wasn’t how I played. And having to lie to my allies was hard because I had chosen to exclusively tell the truth to certain people. But the game forced me to lie to them. I wouldn’t have done it naturally, but I find it interesting that the game made me do it, and forced me to confront it.”
“I think that’s what makes Big Brother what it is. If everything was smooth and fair, it wouldn’t be interesting.”
“We want it to be engaging and have things that confuse people. Even the redemptions, even the things that may not necessarily have been to my advantage, I can see that, as a spectator, it enriches the game. And there have always been around seven people on the jury, so I don’t see why this year would be any different.”
It is worth noting that Gab won her season with six out of seven votes from the final jury. Congratulations to the great champion of this sixth season!
