Police Chief of Riau Provides Assistance to Fishermen in Kepulauan Meranti Districts
The Police Chief of Riau, Irjen Herry Heryawan, handed over 20 fishing machines to fishermen in the village of Bokor, Rangsang Barat district, Kepulauan Meranti districts. This assistance aims to increase the productivity of fishermen while strengthening the economy of coastal communities.
The handover took place at the Tantya Sudhirajati auditorium of the Kepulauan Meranti police, on Tuesday, March 31. The provided machines included 10 units of the Motoya brand and 10 units of Pro-Quip, each received by 20 local fishermen.
Herry stated that the role of the police is not only to maintain security and public order, but also to participate in efforts to improve the welfare of citizens.
“We are aware that the mission of the police is not only to maintain security, but also to serve, protect, and care for society. Therefore, we must be able to make a real contribution to help reduce the standard of living in society,” Herry said in a statement on Tuesday, March 31.
He emphasized the importance of collaboration to promote sustainable development, including the involvement of various parties in opening up economic and social access to populations.
“We cannot work alone. With human solidarity, we can provide broader access to the population in the areas of economy, education, and social welfare,” he added.
In addition to providing assistance, this activity is also associated with the planting of eight mango and honey mango seedlings as part of the green police approach adopted by the Riau police, which aims to encourage a balance between economic growth and environmental preservation.
The head of Rangsang Barat sub-district, Jefri, said that the assistance had a direct effect on the activities of fishermen in his region.
“This assistance is very beneficial for our fishermen as it can increase their activity and productivity, which has a direct impact on the well-being of the population,” Jefri stated.
A similar sentiment was expressed by the Police Chief of Kepulauan Meranti AKBP Aldi Alfa Faroqi. He believed that the assistance was targeted and potentially capable of strengthening the local economy.
“The presence of the police commissioner also had a positive effect on public trust in the police, as evidenced by the enthusiasm of the public and the favorable situation of the activities taking place in a safe and conducive environment,” Aldi declared.
