Present at the conference held at the National Assembly’s premises were Secretary General To Lam, President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, National Assembly President and National Electoral Council Chairman Tran Thanh Man, as well as other members of the National Electoral Council.

Also present at the provincial branch conference in Gia Lai were comrade Chau Ngoc Tuan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, head of the provincial delegation to the National Assembly, and Vice President of the Provincial Electoral Council; members of the directorate and provincial electoral council; as well as representatives from the provincial People’s Council, provincial People’s Committee, and provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee.
In his opening speech at the conference, National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man declared: “After a meticulous, deep, proactive, and creative preparation process, thanks to the acute sense of responsibility of the relevant agencies and organizations, through the involvement of the entire political system and the support, cooperation, and unity of the people and voters at the national level, the election was a resounding success, a significant political event, a great celebration for the entire nation, and received very favorable response from both national and international public opinion.”

According to the draft synthesis report on the elections presented by National Assembly General Secretary Le Quang Manh during the session, in the context of implementing the two-level local government model with many challenges, voters nationwide elected 500 deputies to the National Assembly, 2,552 deputies to provincial People’s Councils, and 72,438 deputies to communal People’s Councils.
Personnel matters were meticulously prepared, ensuring compliance with standards and quality; the structure of the delegates continued to be improved to increase the number of full-time delegates, enhance their qualifications, and strengthen their representativeness.

After the elections, the newly elected Gia Lai Provincial People’s Council and the communal People’s Councils held their first sessions to consolidate the government apparatus for the 2026-2031 term, ensuring operational readiness from April 1, 2026, in accordance with central government directives.
In his speech at the conference, Secretary General To Lam highlighted five successes and five lessons drawn from the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and representatives to all levels of People’s Councils for the 2026-2031 term.
The five main successes of the election were: massive, responsible, and confident voter turnout nationwide; continuous improvement in the quality, structure, and representativeness of delegates; early, systematic, unified, and rigorous preparation from central to local levels; significant progress in digital transformation and technology application in election organization; and maintaining political security and social order throughout the electoral process.
Secretary General To Lam emphasized: “From these results, five very important lessons can be drawn.”
Firstly, ensuring centralized, unified, and coherent leadership, while maximizing the responsibility of the entire political system.
Secondly, personnel issues must be meticulously prepared in a democratic, legal, and genuinely comprehensive manner.
Thirdly, the people must be at the center of the entire electoral process; the record turnout is not just due to good organization, but also because voters feel respected, fully informed, and benefit from the best possible conditions to exercise their civic rights.
Fourthly, information and communication work must be proactive and innovative in both content and methods.
And most importantly, the success of an election is fully realized when it translates into concrete actions during the new term. Voter participation does not end on election day; it must be followed by quality legislation, effective oversight, and relevant and timely policies that meet the country’s development needs in this new era.
Secretary General To Lam stated that the recent elections on March 15, 2026, marked a decisive turning point, demonstrating the convergence of the Party’s will, the people’s aspirations, and the desire for national development. He also noted that, with this success, we must be more aware of the need for the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term to be innovative, dynamic, effective, close to the people, and in service of the people.
Every elected official must remember that they are entrusted with the voters’ confidence. Every decision of the National Assembly and People’s Councils, every oversight action, every law, every legal document, and every decision made must aim for a supreme goal: to serve the nation and the people, and to inject new momentum into the country’s rapid and sustainable development.
With this conviction, Secretary General To Lam is convinced that the lessons learned from this election will continue to be passed on, developed, and perfected in the future; and they will also serve as a solid foundation for the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term to excellently fulfill their responsibilities to the Party, the people, and history.
