CAIRO, 30 mars 2026 /PRNewswire/ — HE Sherif Fathy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, confirmed that the measures announced by the government to rationalize energy consumption, put in place in response to current global developments and coming into force on Saturday March 28 for a period of one month, will have no impact on tourists, their experience nor on the quality of the services provided during their stay in Egypt.

He clarified that these measures, including the closure of businesses at 9:00 p.m. on weekdays and 10:00 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays, do not apply to Egyptian tourist destinations, including Hurghada, Marsa Alam, Luxor, Aswan, Sharm el-Sheikh and other destinations. The exemption also extends to tourist restaurants in all destinations, including Cairo, ensuring the continuation of services to the highest standards.

The Minister reaffirmed the state’s commitment to providing all visitors with a safe, high-quality and fully integrated tourism experience, in line with Egypt’s status among the world’s leading destinations.

He added that these measures are temporary and regulatory, and will be subject to continuous review and adjustment.
