Retrieved safe and sound in Portugal, the two children of the former French policeman suspected of having kidnapped them and killed their mothers will be handed over to French authorities, according to a judicial source.
Cédric Prizzon’s two children, suspected of killing their respective mothers, who had been taken care of by a specialized structure after their father’s arrest last Tuesday in Portugal, will be handed over to French authorities, RMC learned on Monday, March 30 from a Portuguese judicial source, confirming information from AFP.
As part of the child protection procedure, the Portuguese justice system has decided, in coordination with French authorities, that “the children will be handed over to French authorities.” However, this source does not specify “the date of the children’s transfer”.
Contacted, Nicolas Rigot-Muller, prosecutor of Rodez (who was originally seized of the disappearance of Cédric Prizzon’s ex-partner and their common child), explains that the prosecutor’s office “had issued a temporary placement order to seize the ASE 12 in order to take care of the minors.”
In their return to France, the children, a 12-year-old boy and his 18-month-old half-sister, “will be accompanied by the dogs who were with them in the vehicle and who are currently detained at the Môda refuge,” in other words, the dogs that were in Cédric Prizzon’s vehicle when he was arrested last week and placed in provisional detention since Thursday, March 26.
Regarding the ongoing criminal procedure in Portugal for Cédric Prizzon, “the case remains in the hands of the Guarda prosecutor’s office until the competent jurisdiction is definitively established, namely where the most serious offense was committed,” specifies the same source. “No information is available regarding a possible transfer of the accused to French authorities,” it concludes.
The 42-year-old former policeman is suspected of killing his partner and his ex-partner and kidnapping his two children. The bodies of the two women were found buried on Wednesday, March 25 in an isolated location in Portugal.
In Meda, a small Portuguese town of 7,000 inhabitants where Cédric Prizzon was arrested, Mayor César Figueiredo confirms to BFMTV that the 12-year-old son was the one who indicated to the authorities where the bodies were. And the mayor added that the latter had seen no signs of violence on the children.
The children were taken care of by a local child protection organization, fed, housed, and placed in a shelter. According to our information, the suspect was arrested because his son was giving several answers to the gendarmes’ questions during the road check.
The father did not object to the children being taken care of, but he reportedly cried when they were separated. As for the children’s behavior, the father is said to be considered an “idol” by his son and his 18-month-old daughter rarely refers to her mother.
Stripped of his custody rights, Cédric Prizzon had a very conflictive relationship with his ex-partner, whom he accused on social media of putting their son “in danger.”
