Pastor and doctor of theology, Miora Rasoharinaivo works in exegesis of the Old Testament on the issue of sexual violence. In her conference, she will focus particularly on two emblematic biblical stories: the story of David and Bathsheba (II Samuel 11) and that of Amnon and Tamar (II Samuel 13).

Power, consent and trauma in the Bible, with Miora Rasoharinaivo
Through an approach combining biblical exegesis, power theory, trauma studies and analyzes of consent, she shows that, although the forms of violence differ between implicit and silent coercion in David, and direct and overt violence in Amnon, both stories are based on an exploitation of power and result in lasting trauma for the victims.
Miora Rasoharinaivo emphasizes that the concept of “secondary victimization” is particularly useful for deciphering these two stories. From her analysis, she proposes a theoretical framework applicable to the study of ancient and modern texts.
