Two 200 Mpx sensors and a crazy zoom: why the new Vivo coming to France will make Xiaomi and Samsung tremble

Take a close look at this massive optical block. Vivo has just unveiled its new X300 Ultra, its new flagship equipped with two 200 MP sensors.

Vivo has revealed the X300 Ultra. It is the brand’s first “Ultra” model to have a global launch. For us, that’s quite significant. Up until now, Vivo has kept its best toys for the domestic market.

Like the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, the device fully embraces its status as a “camera-phone” with a design that doesn’t fool anyone. The huge circular module at the back, adorned with the Zeiss logo, takes up a dominant position.

Two 200 megapixel sensors

Its main asset is clearly the optical arsenal. It features a trio configuration, but with a level of technical extravagance rarely seen. The main 35mm module relies on the Sony LYTIA 901 sensor measuring 1.12 inches. That’s huge. This size allows capturing significant light while offering a natural background blur without relying on software tricks.

But it’s the telephoto lens that will likely impress you. Vivo has integrated the new Samsung HP0 200-megapixel sensor for its 85mm zoom. This periscope benefits from gimbal-grade stabilization. The promise? Clear shots even when zooming in heavily or in action-packed scenes.

Add to that an ultra-wide-angle 50 MP lens (Sony LYT-818) and you get one of the most versatile camera setups in the market.

For those who truly want to play photographer with their smartphone, Vivo brings back its Photographer Kit (or Imaging Grip Kit). We’re not talking about just a silicone case, but a complete package: a hard case, a physical grip with a real shutter button like a traditional camera, and importantly, a ring system to attach additional lenses.

The star of this equipment is the telephoto converter Zeiss G2. It allows pushing the focal length to an equivalent of 200mm, and for the avid photographers, Vivo even hinted at “Cannon 400” (400mm) and “Lipstick 200” lenses. It’s bulky, it’s niche, but it’s undeniably appealing on paper. The question remains if this kit will also make its way to France, or if one would need to find ways to acquire it.

A powerhouse finally arriving in France

In terms of performance, Vivo hasn’t held back either. The X300 Ultra is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. It’s an ultra-efficient chip that smoothly handles 4K video at 120 frames per second in 10-bit Log. The 6.82-inch screen doesn’t lag behind with a 2K AMOLED display running at 144Hz. It’s protected by the new Armour Glass 2.

The battery is another major highlight of this announcement. We’re talking about a 6600mAh block with silicon-carbon technology. That’s huge for a chassis only 8.19mm thick. The phone charges at 100W wired and 40W wirelessly.

This Vivo X300 Ultra has a good chance of officially launching in France by the second quarter of 2026. European certifications have already been obtained and the brand has explicitly mentioned a release in the European markets.

If the price doesn’t skyrocket beyond reason, Samsung and Apple might find it difficult to justify their prices against such a showcase of technologies.
