In another automotive development, BMW has unveiled the BMW iX3 Long Wheelbase model produced in China to meet the high demand from Chinese consumers. The SUV is set to debut at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show next month, according to Carnewschina on Monday, March 30.
The iX3 Long Wheelbase model has been specifically developed for the Chinese market and is expected to be launched in the first half of 2026. The new model largely retains the exterior design of its foreign version with subtle enhancements. Key visual elements include the typical “Digital Angel Wing” daytime running lights and the attention-grabbing “3D Grille.”
One improvement for the Chinese market is the elongation of the distance between the axles, now reaching 3,005 mm. For comparison, the foreign model has a length of 4,780 mm, a width of 1,895 mm, a height of 1,635 mm, and an axle distance of 2,895 mm.
At the rear, the vehicle maintains horizontal L-shaped taillights. Interestingly, the emblem now displays “Brilliance BMW” and “iX350L,” indicating local production and its specific variant. The new central rear camera has been integrated into the segmental roof spoiler, providing advanced driving assistance capabilities.
The interior of the iX3 Long Wheelbase model showcases BMW’s latest design philosophy, featuring a panoramic sunroof with integrated sunshades. The vehicle has been equipped with advanced driving navigation functions from Momenta tailored to local highway and urban scenarios.
Under the hood, the iX3 Long Wheelbase is powered by BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive electric propulsion technology built on the 800V architecture. The car is equipped with a 108 kWh battery, combined with a front asynchronous motor and a rear synchronous motor, delivering a maximum power of 345 kW (463 hp) and a maximum torque of 645 Nm. This powerful setup enables the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds.
In terms of range, the vehicle offers a pure electric range exceeding 900 km under WLTP conditions, with an official energy consumption rate of 15.1 kWh/100 km. The fast charging capability allows for up to 427 km of range to be added in just 10 minutes.
