In Eckernförde, a new event series is set to begin on Thursday, April 9th, where local authors will showcase their work. “Everyone is welcome, whether they have published independently or with a major publisher,” says Andrea Stephan, the city’s cultural officer. Together with Andrea Born from the city library and Claudia Lobenberg from the Lobenberg bookstore, she initiated the series. “The focus of the event series is regional,” adds Stephan.
The first event on April 9th features author Inken Witt from Kiel, reading from her book “Und wir versprachen uns ein Morgen” at the Lobenberg bookstore. Admission is 13 Euros. Following a summer break, three more authors will take the stage. Leo Hansen will read from his new short story “Wanderer, kommst du nach Windeby” in August. Birthe Stährmann will present her new book “Das Glück schmeckt nach Meer: die Bonbonkocherei” in September, and Michael Gorka will read from his books “eichelartig” and “Ein Buch, denn es ist ja eins!” in November.
The organizers emphasize that these are just the initial dates, with more potentially added in the summer. Authors interested in showcasing their work at “von hier” can contact the organizers. The series aims to provide a platform for unknown authors, including various genres like poetry and non-fiction. “It doesn’t have to be a traditional reading,” says Andrea Born, with Claudia Lobenberg adding that performances are welcome too. The organizers are excited for the debut event, showcasing the creative talent in the region.
