Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide to Accompany Galaxy Z Fold 8. What are the Differences Between these Two Foldable Smartphones?
Samsung is expanding its range of foldable smartphones with a new model. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide changes its format to compete with the upcoming iPhone Fold.

We have already seen 3D renders of this unique smartphone. The website AndroidHeadlines now allows us to compare the Galaxy Z Fold 8 with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide.
3:4 or 6:5 Format – Samsung Shakes Up Foldable Norms
The latter adopts a format closer to that of a classic tablet. The dimensions of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 differ little from those of the Z Fold 7. It measures: 158.4 x 143.2 x 4.5 mm. It maintains a 6:5 ratio.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide completely changes its appearance to adopt a 3:4 format. Its appearance is closer to a square, as with an iPad. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide measures: 123.9 x 161.4 x 4.9 mm.

Getting used to this new format on Android will be necessary. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide may also be difficult to fit into a pocket when closed. With an external display of 5.4 inches, it would measure 82.2 mm wide. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 would not exceed 72.8 mm in width. That’s an additional 10 mm.

When Will the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide be Released?
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide is expected to be released at the same time as the Z Fold 8, probably in July or August 2026.
The delayed launch of the Galaxy S26 could have shifted Samsung’s schedule. One thing is certain: Samsung plans to launch the Galaxy Z Fold 8 before the unveiling of the iPhone Fold. Apple could reveal its foldable smartphone in September 2026.
