Supported by the Cléder municipal council, the communal sports center is offering swimming lessons during the summer of 2026. This is a great opportunity for children to learn the basics of swimming. The sessions, led by Benoît Coquin, a qualified state swimming instructor, are open to all children born between 2014 and 2020, whether they live in Cléder or not, and who do not yet know how to swim or feel uncomfortable in the water. The goal is to help each student gradually develop water confidence and learn to move safely.

Three skill levels

The program consists of five sessions in one week where children will develop the ability to dive for objects underwater, move without assistance, and practice back and front floating. Online registrations are now open, and each week the participants will be divided into three groups based on their skill level: children with no swimming experience or who may feel some fear of the water; beginners without particular fear; children with basic swimming skills who want to improve their technique.

The sessions will take place at the Ashburton sports hall in Cléder, where the mobile pool, invested in by the municipality in 2021 to enhance learning conditions, will be set up. “It is important for a coastal town like ours to offer swimming lessons so that our children can be safe when they go to the beach or pool,” explained Mayor Franck Cocaign and sports councilor Olivier Le Bihan.
