The master of Italian design unveils a new perspective through a collection of rugs created with the editor cc-tapis. A unique dialogue between artisanal craftsmanship and creative exuberance, where each piece tells a story.
Piero Fornasetti (1913-1988), known for plates humorously featuring the face of his muse Lina Cavalieri, furniture created with Gio Ponti, and neo-antique objects, surprises us this spring. Barnaba Fornasetti, his father’s guardian of memory, unveils a collection of rugs created in close collaboration with the Milanese editor cc-tapis.
What does the cc-tapis X Fornasetti collection look like?
The collection embodies the seemingly contradictory elements that make Fornasetti an iconic figure in Italian design: modernity and historical anchorage, precise engravings and whimsy, excess and a sense of proportion. “This range allowed us to use our entire manufacturing vocabulary,” rejoices Fabrizio Cantoni, founder and president of cc-tapis. They adopted techniques that best highlighted the designs: embroidery, tufting, and, of course, very tight hand knotting to reproduce as many details as possible. The 15 models play with different wool thicknesses to emphasize the theatrical dimension of the designs. Impressive!
