Senegal presents the trophy of the 2025 CAN before beating Peru

  • The Senegal team presented the 2025 CAN trophy before defeating Peru on Saturday at the Stade de France.
  • Wining the match in January, the Lions of Teranga were recently stripped of their Africa champion title in favor of Morocco.
  • This did not stop them from celebrating a victory in front of their French supporters, a win they continue to claim.

A victory lap with the trophy in hand. At the Stade de France, Senegal celebrated their victory in the Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday, March 28, recently revoked by the CAF appeals committee, ahead of their friendly match against Peru, which they won 2-0. Captain Kalidou Koulibaly entered the field with the cup in his arms, before starting a lap around the pitch in front of their French supporters.

Senegalese superstar Youssou Ndour performed a mini-concert before the trophy was brought to the presidential tribune by Kalidou Koulibaly and Édouard Mendy, where the president of the Senegalese Football Federation, Abdoulaye Fall, was present. He had declared a few days earlier that his country had been the victim of the “most blatant administrative robbery in the history of our sport,” announcing that he had brought the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to overturn the defeat awarded to Morocco.
