Throughout her life, the first winner of “Loft Story”, found dead at her home on Wednesday, was mocked for her body and victim of violence.
Spring 2018. Loana, exactly 40 years old, takes part in the fourth season of “La Villa des cœurs brisés”. In this TF1 program, the participants are encouraged to reflect on their emotional difficulties and identify the “issues” that prevent them from finding a romantic partner. The show’s “love coach” leads a rather dubious coaching session, urging the forty-something woman with long blonde hair to immerse herself in the villa’s pool for a “rebirth bath” to “wash” herself of her “Loana character”. A clear reference to the iconic scene from “Loft Story” seventeen years prior. The contestant complies. She walks into the chlorinated water and lists, in tears: “I no longer want to be insulted; I don’t want to be judged by my appearance anymore; I don’t want to need someone to move forward; I don’t want to be used as an object; I don’t want to be hurt; I don’t want to cry anymore…”
