This time, there was neither a poorly started game nor a big slump at the end of the match. For their last outing of the season on their home court, Julia Borde’s players treated their loyal fans to a festival.
Rhythm, determination, a constant willingness, and plenty of accuracy; the Martigues team did not lack anything, maintaining their pressure throughout the game, even though in the final minutes, both teams were evenly matched.
After just two minutes of play, MSB had opened up a significant lead (9-2), led by Macé and Stallars, a lead that only grew as the minutes passed (15-4, 18-7), and by halftime, the game seemed to be over at 44-21.
Four departures
After half-time, the game’s nature remained unchanged, particularly because the visiting team continued to be inaccurate. The scoreline widened to 67-29 before the 3rd quarter, and Martigues SB comfortably won 79-45.
This was followed by a heartfelt ceremony, with President Jean-Pierre Blanès warmly acknowledging the journey of four departing players: captain Aude Kernevez, who is retiring, Dufait and Pinel who will be playing elsewhere, and Macé who will be moving up a level. A lovely evening for Martigues basketball.
