New Tourism Minister in post-referendum reshuffle

ROME, April 3 (Reuters) – Gianmarco Mazzi, Italy’s culture undersecretary, was sworn in on Friday as the new tourism minister, the latest reshuffle in Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s government after her defeat in the reform referendum judicial.

Former television and entertainment executive Gianmarco Mazzi replaces Daniela Santanche, who is on trial on accounting fraud charges linked to a publishing group she previously owned.

The latter resigned from her post last week under pressure from Giorgia Meloni.

The latter wrote on her social network account

Since the failure of the referendum on judicial reform, Giorgia Meloni has sought to reaffirm her control over the government, by removing personalities tainted by scandals. Two senior officials from the Ministry of Justice also resigned.
