Jan Juc is the northern beginning of the Surf Coast Walk. And what a great place to start.
There are well positioned seats and viewing platforms along the top of the Jan Juc Cliffs, from which you can get a good lay of the land.
There is good parking facilities and an information board.
Last time I visited it was under repair and no information was being displayed. This may have changed. If you know please post a comment.
There are also a number of intresting information panels scattered along the top of the Jan Juc cliffs explaining how the coastline was formed in geological terms and information about the original inhabitants of the area.
This leg of the walk gently winds its way along the top of the cliffs through low wind sculptured vegetation and on to Winkipop and the Bells Beach Surfing Reserve.
At low tide you always have the option of doing this section of the walk along the beach and reef coastline. Be aware that the cliffs are high and the access points can be difficult to climb up and down depending on your fitness.
